FAQ’s

PERMANENT MAKE UP / MICROBLADING / POWDER BROWS

  • You may not be a good candidate for permanent makeup/microblading if you have any of the following conditions:

    Taking Isoretinoin (Accutane)

    Pregnant or Nursing

Tendency to Keloid scar (please contact me)

Botox in the brow area which has altered the placement of your brows (please wait 2 months for the effects to wear off)

    Under the age of 18

Serious diseases that can affect your body's healing process, such as cancer or autoimmune disorders (please consult with your physician)

Bleeding Disorders (please consult with your physician)

If you are taking any medications that contain blood thinners or affect your body's ability to heal, please consult with your physician with regards to getting a tattoo.

  • Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo performed with a small handheld tool, using a feather stroke technique to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face. Microblading is a softer/more subtle cosmetic tattoo than some of older methods. Body tattoos use ink while cosmetic tattoo procedures involve pigments. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur.

  • A Powder/Ombre brow is a form of permanent makeup that gives a similar effect to wearing powder or pencil on your brows. The procedure is performed using a micro-pigmentation machine. The results tend to last longer than microblading as the pigment is inserted deeper than the manual method of microblading and is best suited for individuals with oily skin or little to no brow hair.

  • Two hours on average. During your appointment we will consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. Much of the time is spent measuring and drawing on a symmetrical set of brows and agreeing on your perfect shape and color. The actual procedure itself takes 30min to an hour. The touch-up appointment will take about an hour.

  • The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. Touch-ups are recommended every 1-2 years maintain shape, color, and detail. How often depends on a number of factors including:

    - Skin type (oily skin fade faster)

    - Pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)

    - Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)

    - Use of daily anti-aging products e.g.- (Tretinoin (Retin-A) & Alpha Hydroxy). These products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo

  • We do all that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Before the Microblading begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel a slight discomfort, but it’s relatively pain free for most.

(PLEASE NOTE that if you are a frequent smoker, or have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)

  • Please don't do anything to your brows before coming to your appointment. We can clean up your brows after we've decided on the shape and before we start the procedure.

  • You must avoid working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

  • As a precaution to avoid any complications, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women.

  • If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.

You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we can take into consideration the shape you desire.

If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least 3 days before your appointment.

If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you must wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

You must stop using Retinol 2 weeks prior to your appointment and avoid using it for the 2 weeks following your appointment.

If you get Botox regularly please get that done no later than 2 weeks before your appointment. This is to ensure we can make your brows as symmetrical as possible.

Avoid chemical peels at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment.

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks before and after your procedure. Do not come to your appointment with a sunburn. In this case, email us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to reschedule.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or any blood thinning medication 24 hours prior to your appointment.

If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 10 days after the procedure due to the aftercare maintenance.

  • Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in color and more sharply defined. This will last 3-4 days. Do not panic! It is normal.

Swelling and redness is minimal with most clients, and will disappear within 24-48 hours. In some cases, it may last around the eyebrow area for up to 3 days, but will not prevent working or socializing. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards but there should only be minimal discomfort.

The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6 weeks that your touch-up/adjustment can be done. Keep in mind that microbladed brows healed up to 30% softer than the initial color.

Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skintype will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.

Healed results will vary with each individual client and using a pencil or powder may still be needed. Additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to obtain optimal results.

  • - Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattooed area.

    - Week 1: Keep the tattooed area clean by rinsing with lukewarm water and patting dry with a disposable paper towel 3 times a day, then apply thin layer of the after care ointment provided. Apply using a disposable cotton swab.

    - Week 2: Keep cleaning them with lukewarm water twice a day for the second week, no ointment.

    - You may shower or bathe normally, but avoid using any soaps or cleansers on the treated area for the first week as they can be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to stabilize in the dermis.

    - Do NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. IMPORTANT: Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. It will appear as though the eyebrows are gone. Within 1-2 weeks, the hair strokes will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.

    - You must avoid working out for 1 week following your appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you MUST clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in the sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

    - Avoid direct sun exposure for the first 14 days. You MUST wear a hat while outside during the healing process.

    - Do NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first 2 weeks. Chemicals of any kind may interfere with the healing and color of your tattoo.

    - No swimming pools, jacuzzis or other bodies of water for two weeks.

    - Do NOT soak your face underwater in a bathtub or allow the shower to spray directly in your face for two weeks.

  • - Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. Wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

    - Glycolic Acid, Retin-A, face peels and exfoliation must be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use could lighten the pigment.

    - If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo has healed, please inform the laser technician. Laser procedures may darken, lighten, or discolor the tattooed area.

BB GLOW

  • BB glow is a complex treatment that is supposed to improve the texture, quality and tone of the face. It’s a fusion between the microneedling/nanoneedling facial and semi permanent makeup, so it targets a number of skin issues, and gives an anti-aging effect.

It’s supposed to give the effects of wearing lightweight foundation, or BB cream.

  • The BB glow can diminish:

Discoloration (redness, age spots, dark undereye circles, freckles, etc.)

    Acne scars

    Fine lines and wrinkles

    Large pores

    Dull, dehydrated skin

It improves the overall state and appearance of the skin by giving a brightening effect and increasing the production of collagen and elastin.

  • Anyone who’s dealing with any of the skin issues listed above and who wants to improve their overall skin state. That said, since the treatment does involve breaking the skin surface and pigmentation, there are certain contraindications.

  • Due to the nature of the application and the pigmented serums used, the BB glow facial isn’t suitable for clients who are:

    pregnant or nursing

    undergoing cancer treatment

suffering from skin conditions like Psoriasis, Rosacea, active acne, etc.

    suffering from any infection

    prone to keloid scarring

prone to allergies to cosmetic products

    taking blood-thinning medications

    taking Accutane

  • Basically, the BB glow facial is micro/nanoneedling with an added step of applying the tinted serum. It’s a complex treatment done is several steps:

    Step 1 – Cleaning

Since the surface of the skin will be broken, the face needs to be clean of any bacteria, dirt, and makeup and skincare residues.

So the first step is cleaning the face with a gentle cleanser.

    Step 2 – Exfoliating Gel

Then, a gentle chemical peel is applied. It removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and increases the absorption of products used in the following steps.

The gel is usually applied with a brush and there’s no need to massage it in. Most formulas are based on lactic and mandelic acids, but ingredients vary from brand to brand.

The gel is left on for a few minutes, depending on the sensitivity of the skin and its type:

Sensitive skin – up to 2 minutes

Normal skin – up to 3 minutes

Oily skin – up to 5 minutes

    Step 3 – Neutralizing Solution

It’s not enough to just wash off the chemical peel gel – it needs to be neutralized so its activity stops. If left on for too long, it could cause damage to the skin.

So a neutralizing solution in the form of a foam that stops its chemical reaction is applied.

Step 4 – BB Booster Application

Next, it’s time for the first round of micro/nano needling.

This step is the application of serums that treat different skin issues. There’s a wide range of serums that can work together to improve the overall skin state, but also target specific conditions.

The technician assesses the state of the skin and chooses the best serum to meet your needs.

The serums are applied with a derma pen. This device features micro or nanoneedles which pierce the skin, allowing the serums to penetrate it and get absorbed. The device is moved across the whole face in circular motions.

Step 5 – BB Glow Serum Application

Finally, it’s time for the application of the tinted serum.

Serums come in several shades. A serum 1 shade lighter is used for the majority of the face, but darker shades can be used to contour the face, and there are even rosy serums that recreate the look of blush. Basically, the semi permanent foundation recreates the look of several complexion makeup products.

Drops of the tined serum are distributed over the face, and the same micro/nano needling device is used to implement them into the skin. The tech will go over the entire face several times, usually 3 times on the first session, and 4 times on further sessions.

After this, the residues can be manually massaged into the skin for maximum absorption.

    Step 6 – Nourishing Mask

The final step is a hydrating sheet mask, which soothes the skin after the treatment and provides it with some additional nourishment and hydration.

It’s placed onto the face and left on for around 15 minutes.

And that’s it! The next session can be booked 2-4 weeks later.

    NOTE

The BB glow treatment can also be combined with some other facial, like the dermaplaning treatment, or LED therapy.

  • No.

Since nanoneedling devices emerged on the market, most beauty techs switched from microneedling pens to the thinner version.

The tips of the tiny needles on a nanoneedling pen are extremely thin, and as such, the cuts made are so tiny they don’t hurt. On top of their microscopic diameter, they penetrate the skin very shallowly.

The penetration of the nanoneedles does not hurt. It feels like tingling, or very slight stinging at most.

Some clients report that the exfoliating gel was the most uncomfortable part of the treatment, and even that is just a slight stinging sensation.

  • Since the pigmented serum is injected into the epidermis layer, so very shallow into the skin, its saturation is built up over time. Likewise, micro/nanoneedling improves the texture and state of the skin gradually.

Therefore, the BB glow is done over a course of 2-10 sessions, depending on the severity of the skin issues targeted. Most clients need 3-5 to achieve the desired result. Significant improvement is visible after the first session, but the longevity of the results is ensured through multiple treatments.

  • The micro needling BB glow doesn’t require any complicated preparation, but here’s what you should do:

Discontinue use of Retinol, Retin A, or Vitamin A for 5 days before the treatment

If you take any acne or blood-thinning medication, consult your doctor and see if it’s possible to discontinue use for some time before the treatment.

    Do a patch test.

  • Yes, because the skin is sensitive and prone to infection until it recovers, but it’s quite simple.

Here are the rules of BBglow aftercare:

Don’t touch your face for a few days

Keep your face dry for at least 24 hours (no washing, but also no sweating)

After 24 hours, wash your face with lukewarm water and mild soap for a few days (avoid harsh products)

No makeup for at least 2 day

    No swimming for 7 days

No sunlight exposure for a few days; after that, wear SPF when you’re outside

No facials and harsh skincare for at least 2 weeks

No vitamin C or retinol for at least 8 weeks (these can speed up pigment fading)

  • The treatment is relatively non-invasive, so there is no actual downtime.

But since the skin is broken, it needs some time to close up the tiny micro-wounds. They’ll close up quickly, within a few days, but during this time, you need to be very careful not to let it get contaminated – follow the aftercare tips.

The skin needs around 14 days to heal completely, including internal healing, so that’s how far apart the sessions need to be spaced out. This also allows the pigments to settle.

  • The BBglow is supposed to act as semi permanent foundation. It serves both as a skin texture perfecting treatment, and as a form of pigmentation that evens out the skin tone.

So, the final result is a more even, radiant complexion with discoloration diminished, and an improvement in the texture and quality of the skin.

Here’s how the BB glow improves the skin:

The micro/nanoneedling technique in itself stimulates collagen and elastin production – the tiny punctures on the skin cause it to regenerate and emerge as tighter, firmer, and plumper.

The special serums target specific skin issues. There are universal ones which provide nourishment and deep hydration, but also special formulas for diminishing acne scars, or line lines and wrinkles.

The tinted serum implants pigments into the surface layer of the skin, perfecting its tone and blending any discolored spots into the rest of the skin.

  • The longevity of the BB glow results is 4-8 months, depending primarily on how many sessions you got in the series – the more sessions, the longer they’ll last. They may even last out longer.

The pigments implemented are supposed to stay very close to the surface of the skin, and fade away after some time. The body breaks them down and extracts them, but the skin’s natural turnover cycle also greatly contributes to the fading.

The longevity also depends on your skincare routine. If you often use anti-aging or chemical peel products, or do mechanical peels often, the results can disappear faster.

If you want to refresh the results, get a maintenance session every 4-5 months.

BROW LAMINATION

  • Brow lamination is a noninvasive procedure and a semipermanent solution for eyebrows that lack shape, do not have symmetry, where the hairs follow a different pattern or have sparse areas. with lamination we realign the direction of the natural brow pattern in such a way to give you the desired shape: a fuller, fluffier and a stylistic appearance with one simple appointment.

  • Brow lamination typically takes 45-60 minutes. Clients will lay comfortably on a massage table with eyes closed. Music is played in the background and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

  • A brow lift will not damage your natural brows if applied correctly. The lifting

solutions when applied are specifically timed for your hair type and consistency. Additionally, the brows receive a deep conditioning treatment that will add nutrients which will strengthen them.

  • The lift can last up to 6 weeks.

  • People who have blepharitis, a stye, conjunctivitis, any active eye infection, or cystic acne and is currently on medication for this cannot have a brow lift performed.

  • Do not get brows wet for the first 24 hours after application.

Do not have a hot bath, shower, sauna, steam room or swimming pool for first 24 hours.

Avoid hot yoga or gym or anything that will make you perspire for 24 hours.

No eye makeup for 24 hours.

Try to use oil free makeup remover at all times.

If wearing face makeup during the first 24 hours, please keep in mind when removing, do not get eyebrows wet.

To avoid irritation, do not rub or touch the eyebrow area.

Don't spend too long in direct sunlight and chlorinated pools after treatment as this will weaken the perm effect and fade the tint color.

    Moisturizing daily is recommended.

    Brush out brows daily.

LASH LIFT

  • A lash lift can take anything from 45 minutes to an hour from beginning to end. Maybe a little longer if you decide to have your eyelashes tinted which will enhance the effect of your lash lift.

  • A Lash Lift can last 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person. There is no need for any maintenance appointments in between but you will need to have the process repeated every 6-8 weeks to lift the new hair growth. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat. If you find that your lift does not last the full 2 months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of having the initial treatment, but not before.

  • Yes. However, we will ask you to remove them temporarily during the treatment as the eyes will be closed throughout.

  • Yes but it is advised that you leave your lashes untouched for at least 24 hours after your treatment. You may find that there is no need for mascara anyway, but if you wish to make your lashes even fuller, a non-waterproof mascara is advised as the removal of waterproof mascaras can be harsh on the lashes and weaken the lift.

  • No. There will be no need for an eyelash curler as this treatment gives a much better result than using a curler, But more importantly, using one may weaken and damage your lashes.

  • A lash lift will begin to naturally drop after about 2 months and your lashes will be back to their natural look. The lashes should drop evenly and will not look out of place. You can repeat the treatment after a minimum of one month if you feel you need to, or you can wait until they are back to their natural state.

OTHER FACIALS

  • The Hydrojelly mask has major skin benefits. A common problem is the skin’s ability to retain the proper amount of moisture as well as a solid balance. Our facial skin is especially clumsy with this. But the Hydrojelly mask supercharges your facial moisture balance and enriches your skin for a hydrated, healthy look. That glow you’ve been after is just one Hydrojelly mask away!

  • Each mask is infused with electrolytes derived from algae that benefit your skin. The mask works to achieve a natural moisture balance, resulting in healthy, hydrated, and supple-looking skin. These HydroJelly masks have incredible soothing and calming effects – the perfect way to put the finishing touch on our existing microdermabrasion treatment.

  • The masks themselves are a delight to experience. Most facial masks neglect the eye and lip areas, but our HydroJelly mask can go over the eyes and lips, amplifying the benefits for your entire face. As soon as the mask is applied, you immediately feel its cooling properties and smell its floral aroma. After the mask is removed, a warm towel compress completes the experience and removes any excess material from your face, leaving your skin hydrated, plump, and nourished. At some point, it is hard to ignore the vivid signs of aging you see in the mirror – little wrinkles around your eyes or lips, age spots, maybe some sagging skin – there used to be few options for turning back the clock without going under the knife. But today, you can soften the effects of time on your face with many nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.

  • When in doubt, leave it out!

The guidelines below are intended to provide a general and safe range for giving and receiving facial massage treatments. They are for informational purposes only and NOT a substitute for professional medical advice or consultations with your healthcare professional.

Delay Treatment 6-12 weeks if you:

    • received a topical peel or laser treatment that has removed tissue (resurfacing)

Gua sha is healing to the epidermis, so it can be used to help heal from damaging procedures such as strong peels, but the counsel of a Licensed Professional is recommended. A clean, chilled stone can be applied flat on the skin without ANY movement to calm inflammation and cool the skin.

    • Botox

    • Dermal filler or injections

Gua sha can cause the body to metabolize fillers and botox so the effect will be shortened, and there is a risk of moving the injectables to other areas of the face. You may work gently around and below the area of the fillers and focus on other areas other than the injection site.

    • Retin-A

    • Accutane

Use caution during and after using Retin-A. The active ingredient tretinoin can cause mild increase in irritation when using facial gua sha, so be extra gentle with your pressure when concurrently using a product containing tretinoin.

    • After any cosmetic surgical procedures (3 weeks)

Depending on the surgery, lymphatic drainage techniques under the treated area and gentle movements on the neck can be used to encourage healing and the health of the tissue.

  • If you are not used to facial massage and/or using face oils or facebalms, you can experience a few breakouts for the first 2-3 weeks of doing gua sha. It’s perfectly normal and it will subside again as long as you continue the gua sha massage at least 3-4 times a week. If your skin continues to breakout after 3 weeks have passed, it might be because your chosen face oil or facebalm is not the right match for your skin type. In that case, turn to pure squalane as this neutral oil-like moisture magnet won't clog your pores but still give your gua sha massage the perfect amount of “slip and glide.”

When we do gua sha massage, or any facial massage, we move the fluid within the skin - the blood and the lymphatic fluid. This increases both nutrients and oxygen to the skin and removes impurities stored in the connective tissue through the lymphatic fluid. This movement of fluids caused by the extra circulation boost made by the gua sha massage, can cause pending build-up of “junk” to surface (better out than in - right?). Facial massage also activates the sebaceous glands (the skin’s oil producers) which release more sebum along with stem cells (partly responsible for the skin rejuvenating effect of the massage)*. These two skin cleansing and skin rejuvenating effects together can cause temporary breakouts until your skin has adjusted.

  • LED Light Therapy is suitable for all skin types and colours. It assists the skin’s own ability to rejuvenate itself by boosting collagen synthesis and stimulating wound healing.

Do not use LED Light Therapy if you’re taking Accutane or any medicine that makes your skin sensitive to sunlight such as some antibiotics. Do not use LED Light Therapy if you are pregnant.

  • Be well hydrated when you arrive for your treatment. If possible, arrive without makeup or sunscreen on. Alert your clinician if you have ether of these on your treatment area so she can remove them for you before treatment begins.

For best results, exfoliate the night before your treatment.

  • Undergoing treatment feels like lying on the beach and basking in the sun – but without the harmful UV rays! Your skin should get no more than slightly warm, but the “glow” sensation can last hours after your treatment.

  • LED Light Therapy is incremental and builds on the work of previous treatments. This means your should expect results from your first treatment to be relatively minor, but improvement should increase significantly with each further treatment. Improvement to your skin should even continue after your last treatment.

  • The effects of LED Light Therapy are not permanent. This is because your skin cells are constantly being shed and renewed. Expect to have follow-up sessions in around 4 to 6 months.
